Andrea Avila

Andrea has been a Spinning certified instructor at 2 Steps Ahead since 2011. She began teaching because she enjoys the music aspect of the class and the positive energy that arises from a rhythmic synergy of happy people. Her favorite part of teaching class is challenging people to perform at high intensity levels but to have in the process.

Growing up, Andrea was an avid runner in track & field and played volleyball.  Today, she uses her fitness to hike, run and participate in Spartan races. Away from the gym, Andrea’s top favorite things are travelling, cheering at sporting events (Go Warriors!) and attending live music shows. She has found that being around healthy and fit people is infectious and keeps the fire in her to maintain her own fitness.

Jason Black

Jason has been a trainer at 2 Steps Ahead Performance Training since 2012.  He initially became a fitness trainer in 2004 for the Firefighter 1 Academy at MPC and completed his certification through A.C.E. Now, Jason holds certifications as a TRX Functional Trainer, A.C.E. Peer Fitness Trainer and E.M.T. and is CPR certified. Jason’s favorite aspect of training is watching people work past their comfort zone and gaining confidence by achieving their fitness goals. He is inspired by members who push their “quit” button a little further after every workout. 2SA members, who have participated in Jason’s class, know and understand that there is NO QUIT in him!

Growing up, Jason participated in wrestling, football and baseball. Today, Jason uses his fitness to perform his duties as a firefighter, aggressively compete in races of all kinds with his family and friends and embark on extended backpacking trips with his children. He believes everyone should be physically and mentally ready for whatever life throws at them. Jason lives by the moto “I CAN and I WILL!”


Carol Flores

Carol has been a certified Indoor Cycling Instructor for 26+ years through Schwinn and Spinning. She was the first Spinning instructor at 2 Steps Ahead in 2009 and hasn’t slowed down since! Her goal towards a healthy lifestyle was kick-started at a health seminar she attended in her teens. She was surrounded by people who wanted to make changes in their lives and this inspired Carol to become a trainer. She loves the collective energy and cardio pumping workout Spinning classes create.

As a young adult, Carol was an active first base softball player and her team took home many championship titles. When Carol is not providing members with a great Spinning workout, you can find her walking the California coastline or hiking in Toro Park. Today, her motivations for staying fit and healthy are to spend time traveling and keeping up with her grandchildren!

Alyssa Wilson

Alyssa has been an instructor at 2 Steps Ahead Performance Training since 2010. She holds certifications through TRX, ONIT and Spinning and is CPR certified. As a Spinning instructor, Alyssa enjoys the creative process of forming a class with music. She loves designing a sweat drenched workout for members and thrives off the feeling she gets while they experience the grind of a good SPIN class, even if they think she is nuts! As a Functional Intense Training instructor, Alyssa enjoys finding new ways for members to get a killer workout and making it fun at the same time. She believes it is very important to keep workouts constantly changing by incorporating fun games and introducing new exercises with and without equipment.

To this day, Alyssa is still inspired and motivated by the physical and mental transformations of every member who decides to adopt the 2SA motto of, “I CAN and I WILL”.  Watching a new member transform from struggling in their first class to seeing that same member complete their 2nd Spartan trifecta is equally encouraging and humbling as to her as an instructor.  Alyssa believes that our bodies are capable of so much if we stick with the 2SA program, stay positive throughout the journey and believe that it can change your body, mind and life.

Away from the gym, Alyssa loves using her fitness by simply moving as much as she can, whenever she can! She loves hiking up mountains with her husband, running in the early mornings, walking with her parents to improve their fitness, playing with her pup at the beach, skiing in the winters and using her stamina to bake the annual 2SA Thanksgiving Day Apple Pies!
